Video Frame Extractor

Choose a frame from your video and save it as PNG, JPEG, or WebP at the original resolution. Use the timeline to find a moment, then step frame by frame to select the image you want. Your video stays on your device.

Supported formats

  • Input: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM; playback depends on the video codec and browser
  • Still images: PNG, JPEG, or WebP at the decoded source dimensions

Why it is different

  • Find a moment on the timeline and step forward or backward one frame at a time.
  • Extract the current frame as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
  • Names each file with both a zero-padded frame number and timestamp in milliseconds.
  • Save full-resolution frames without taking a screenshot of the player.

Privacy and local processing

The source video is read through local browser file access. Decoded frames are generated in the browser and are not sent to a remote extraction service.

FAQ

Can I move through the video one frame at a time?

Yes. Use trimy’s previous-frame and next-frame buttons, or seek on the timeline, then export the frame shown at the current playhead.

Does it support variable-frame-rate video?

Seeking follows absolute source timestamps. Displayed frame numbers are based on the detected average rate, so every filename also records the source timestamp.

Which image format should I use?

PNG is lossless and best for UI, diagrams, or further editing. JPEG is usually smaller for photographic frames. WebP offers a compact modern alternative when the destination supports it.

Does extraction change the video resolution?

No resize control is applied. The frame is exported at the dimensions decoded from the source video.
